Blogs
Author Jill Shalvis: Jill's blog about her life with Alpha Man, children, and her dogs. Jill is a romance writer whose books, I (Jen) confess, have finally read some of her books. I like them!
Author Suzanne McMinn: Another romance writer, Suzanne writes about her kids and her new farmhouse in Western Virginia. I'm ashamed to admit I've never read her books.
Confessions of a Pioneer Woman: Ree blogs about her life with her four punks and fabulous husband The Marlboro Man. Her topics range from burps and calf nuts to photography and her life on a working cattle ranch.
Elements in Time: Creating Edible Landscape: An idealist, Melinda blogs about her studies to become a master gardener, her wonderful house in northern Sonoma County, CA, and the growing challenge she's hosting.
Everyday Stranger: Helen blogs about her life in England with her twin babies, two soon-to-be step-children, and her fiance.
Garden Rant: Uprooting the Gardening World: Four women blogging together about the delights and pains of gardening in different areas of the U.S. even with the interference of that nefarious "horticultural industry."
Scribbit: A Blog About Motherhood in Alaska
Other
Corridor Volunteers: A website that facilitates volunteering in eastern Iowa.
Fazed: An adult site with links of weird and funny sites, vidoes, and pictures on the internet. Must be 18 as there is nudity, bad language, and adult content. The best part of this site is its forums.
FreeCycle: A nonprofit organization of local groups, membership free, that give (and get) items for no cost. They're goal is to keep things out of the landfill and get things to people who need them and will use them.
GoodReads: This website keeps track of books you've read, want to read, or are currently reading and allows you to review and rate each book. It's great if you want to keep track of where you are at in a series of books, if you've read all the books by one of your favorite authors, and if you want help remembering which authors and books you liked and which were merely okay. You can have friends and then keep up to date on what they are reading and how they rated the book. Let Jen know if you sign up, so she can add you as a friend.
Local Foods Connection: This is a non-profit that helps low-income families in eastern Iowa receive fresh foods from CSA Farms. Read more about them at their site.
Netflix: A movie rental site which I'm sure everyone and their brother has heard of. If you are or become a member of Netflix, let Jen know so she can add you to her list of friends!
